Doreen Houghton Profile
After discovering a flair for painting, Doreen spent two
years studying at the Nottingham Art College. There she specialised
in a number of areas including life drawing, sculpture, fabric
design and history of art. Following her graduation, Doreen
worked as a designer at a fabric studio until she later decided
to concentrate on family life.
Whilst raising her children Doreen continued painting for
pleasure, working on commissions for family and friends, her
skills developed further. However a desire to build upon her
talents and increase her areas of expertise led Doreen to
study a Foundation course in Art and Design. Her knowledge
expanded to cover photography, mixed media and computer arts
and Doreen completed her studies with a Distinction.
A year later Doreen was approached by Marcus Wilkinson and
has since enjoyed a varied and interesting opportunity to
produce unique pieces of art. The dials that she has created
have covered many different subjects from the Nutcracker Suite
Ballet to the American West.
